How this differs from question banks and video courses
Exam questions hand you a complete set of inputs. Business does not. A course opens with a situation and a question; which data is missing, who holds it, and whether their definition can be used as-is are all yours to judge. Ask the wrong person or miss an assumption and the conclusion will not hold.
You are not talking to one uniform tutor. Each role has its own position and its own information boundary: operations cares about capacity, sales about pricing, audit about evidence, the finance director about risk. None of them volunteers the decisive number, and asking is no guarantee of getting it right.
Marking does not reward saying the right buzzword. It checks the things that can be verified: whether your definitions are consistent, whether the arithmetic holds, whether the evidence points at a real source, and whether the advice is something the business could act on. You get point-by-point feedback plus the competency dimensions this attempt contributed to.
What one attempt looks like
- Pick a situation:Choose by topic or by level. Every course states its objectives, company background and expected duration. No assessment required first.
- Gather evidence:Ask in your own words. Pushing back, challenging and asking for the basis are all encouraged — that is how numbers are obtained at work.
- Do the modelling:Courses that need a model provide a downloadable workbook. You complete it and submit; both the result and the working are reviewed.
- Give a conclusion:Write advice for the business or for management: what you judge, on what basis, what the risks are and what happens next.
- Read the feedback:Point by point against the mark scheme — where a definition slipped, where evidence was thin — and the result feeds your competency profile.
Who it is for
Students preparing for management accounting examinations who can answer questions but freeze in front of a real brief: what you practise here is applying knowledge to a noisy situation.
People new to a finance role who need to get used to cross-functional conversations and evidence gathering: make the avoidable mistakes in a simulation first.
Teachers and training leads: mark scheme points, competency dimensions and learner trails are all inspectable, so courses can be used directly as assignments and debriefs.

Questions people ask
Do I need to take an assessment first?
No. There is a short baseline assessment if you want a suggested starting level, but it never gates course access.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in the browser. Courses that need modelling provide a spreadsheet template you fill in with whatever tool you already use.
How long is a course?
Most take one to two hours; the expected duration is shown on every course page. You can leave part-way and your progress is kept.
Is marking human or automatic?
Automatic, but against mark scheme points written in advance. Feedback tells you which point each judgement came from, so it can be checked.
