TimeTech Organisational Structure Design and Change Pilot
Student-led · Seven management roles collaborating to deliver the structural comparison, lightweight-matrix design and change roll-out
A student-led organisational design exercise: diagnose why TimeTech's functional structure is straining as the firm grows from a 10-person start-up to around 200 staff, compare functional, divisional, matrix and network options, and recommend a governable, phased and reversible change pilot — working alongside seven management roles.
The question
The existing functional structure is showing long approval cycles, unclear cross-departmental accountability, rework at the marketing-to-technology handover, and weak employee drive to innovate; the board requires a change proposal to be drawn up within one month.
Company background
TimeTech Ltd. is a smartwatch manufacturer with around 200 employees, having grown rapidly from a 10-person start-up team.
